How to deal with vaginitis in early pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I am 1 month pregnant. The day before yesterday, I felt a little pain at the vaginal opening, and today there is a lot of discharge, which is itchy. I used to have candidiasis vaginitis, and before getting pregnant, I had thorough tests that showed everything was normal before deciding to conceive. Now, only one month into the pregnancy, it has flared up again. I don't know if I can take medication or which one would be safest.

Doctor's answer:

The treatment method is as follows:
For early pregnancy within 12 weeks, a 2%-3% soda solution or Jie'eryin can be used to rinse the external genitalia and vagina. At the same time, underwear should be changed daily, and it should be washed and disinfected together with towels and basins.
After 12 weeks of early pregnancy, after rinsing as described above, gently dry the external genitalia and place a nystatin suppository, miconazole, or clotrimazole suppository deep into the vagina, to be used every night before bed. If vulvitis is present, a miconazole troche can be applied to the external genitalia.
Generally, a course of treatment lasts for 10-14 days. After stopping medication for 7 days, a re-examination should be conducted. If symptoms disappear, a third re-examination for fungus should be performed 2 weeks later. Treatment can only be considered complete after full recovery.
For early pregnancy after 35 weeks, vaginal procedures should not be performed to prevent intrauterine transmission.
