How to Use Medication for Vaginitis Treatment

Patient's question:

Hello, due to my condition of vaginal candidiasis, the hospital prescribed me Gatifloxacin tablets (to be taken) vaginal lavage solution and Ofloxacin vaginal effervescent tablets. Yesterday afternoon, I started my period, and I only used five of the medications, leaving two effervescent tablets unused. Could you please advise on how to use the medication properly? If it's not possible, would a single Gatifloxacin tablet be effective? Or should I reconsider getting an injection or other treatment? Thank you.

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Candidal vulvovaginitis is a common type of vaginitis. Treatment:
a. Completely eliminate the causative factors. If diabetes is present, provide active treatment; promptly discontinue broad-spectrum antibiotics and estrogens. Change underwear frequently. Boil used underwear, basins, and towels.
b. Change the vaginal pH. Use a 2%–4% sodium bicarbonate solution to rinse the vagina, creating conditions favorable for the growth of Candida. Additionally, maintain a light diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods.
