Author: Shu Wu
Publisher: Shanghai Shudian Press
Brief Introduction:
This book is a collection of articles written by the author Shu Wu after 2000. It contains 250,000 characters and is divided into seven parts. The first part discusses topics related to women, covering both real-life women and fictional women in literature, and can be considered a sequel to Lament for Women. The author aims to speak for women, discussing many hardships and humiliations that women are reluctant to voice, as well as the hidden desires and malevolent intentions toward women. The second part focuses on the brothers Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren. As the twin pillars of modern Chinese literature and having experienced a rift that defined their lives, they remain a subject of study for scholars. This part includes both studies of their ideologies and explorations of their personal relationships. The third part discusses five Tang Dynasty poets (Gao Shi,岑参, Li Bai, Du Fu, and Meng Haoran). The poems of Li Bai and Du Fu have been celebrated for millennia and remain a focus of Chinese scholars. Gao Shi and 岑参 are renowned for their "moral integrity," having both served on the frontier and are considered representative figures in frontier poetry. Meng Haoran is celebrated as a pastoral poet alongside Wang Wei. These five are considered the epitome of Tang poetry. The fourth part recalls the author's teachers and friends. Having entered the world at an early age and learned from many mentors, this part heartfeltly remembers figures such as Nie Gongnu, Zhang Youlan, Wu Yao, Chen Erdong, Bie Shenzhi, Qi Gong, and Zhou Shaoliang. The fifth part consists of memories of the author's life, primarily focusing on his experiences as a reader. The sixth part includes prefaces and reviews, while the seventh part is a collection of miscellaneous essays.
