Features: The book is divided into four parts and twenty-six chapters, accompanied by clinical references and common special examinations in obstetrics and gynecology.
Part I is on physiological obstetrics, mainly introducing physiological changes during pregnancy and the mechanisms of normal delivery. Part II focuses on pathological obstetrics, emphasizing pathological changes during pregnancy, prevention and treatment of pregnancy complications, management of abnormal delivery, and abnormal postpartum changes. Due to limited space, only a brief introduction is provided on fetal and neonatal topics. Part III covers gynecology, including fundamental knowledge and common examination methods, systematically discussing female reproductive organ inflammation, tumors, menstrual disorders, injuries and malformations of female reproductive organs, endometriosis, and infertility. Part IV is on family planning and women's health. Family planning is a fundamental policy of China and is closely related to women's health. Integrating the two can effectively control population growth, improve population quality, and ensure women's mental and physical health.
This book emphasizes the overall optimization of teaching materials. The first half differs from previous textbooks. Considering that the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system are thoroughly covered in anatomy and physiology courses, these foundational topics have been omitted. Additionally, surgical procedures in obstetrics and gynecology have been removed, with detailed content available in the relevant chapters of Surgical Techniques in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In terms of content, the book emphasizes ideological, scientific, advanced, targeted, and adaptive aspects. Based on extensive review of scientific literature, it introduces new concepts, such as currently promoted breastfeeding; revises menopausal syndrome to perimenopausal syndrome; modifies the pathological classification of endometrium in dysfunctional uterine bleeding; and adds common obstetric issues in clinical references, such as intrauterine infections harmful to fetuses, rational medication during pregnancy, and obstetric DIC. Similarly, it introduces new examination methods like laparoscopic procedures in common gynecological examinations to help students prepare for clinical internships.
