Features: This manuscript introduces the clinical experience of the renowned modern physician Yu Wuyan. Yu Wuyan (1900–1963), originally named Yu Yu, styled Zeming, and styled Buping, was from Funing, Jiangsu. Initially, he studied classic literature and history, later following his father Fengxian to learn medicine. He was deeply devoted to classical medical texts, particularly enjoying the study of Zhang Zhongjing's theories. At the age of 18, he began practicing medicine. Observing the influence of Western medicine's introduction to the East and the "Westernizing" trend in the Chinese medical community, he studied Western medicine with Yu Fengbin in Shanghai from 1920. After settling in Shanghai in 1929, he co-founded World Medical Journal with others, with the aim of improving traditional Chinese medicine. In 1934, he became an honorary council member and editorial committee member of the Central National Medical Association. From the mid-1930s, he successively taught and practiced medicine at the Shanghai Chinese Medical College, the Chinese Medical College of Specialization, the Suzhou National Medical Research Institute, and the Shanghai New China Medical College. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he worked at the Chinese Medical Research Institute and the Beijing Chinese Medical College, overseeing the editorial work of the institute and participating in the writing and review of nine teaching materials. His clinical expertise lay in treating cold damage (Shanghan) and warm diseases (Wenbing), and he was also skilled in surgery. His medical case collection, Wijing Experience Records, reflects his meticulous clinical diagnosis and mastery of classical formulas. The special disease treatments in this book are compiled based on Wijing Experience Records. His works, such as New Interpretation of the Treatise on Cold Damage, New Interpretation of the Essentials from the Golden Cabinet, General Theory of Practical Mixed Surgery, Specifics of Practical Mixed Surgery, and Diseases of Damp-Heat Cold Damage, have had a broad impact on the medical community.
