What are the symptoms of candidal vulvovaginitis?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with candidiasis?

Doctor's answer:

The main symptoms of candidal vaginitis are:
① Sudden recurrence of severe itching in the vulva and vaginal opening, along with increased vaginal discharge, which is often white and cheese-like or curd-like. Some discharges may be thin but contain white small pieces or lumps. In very few cases, the discharge may appear normal.
② Due to inflammation, the vaginal mucosa becomes red and swollen, causing patients to feel pain inside the vagina, which is more pronounced during urination. Sometimes, it may also lead to frequent urination, painful urination, and dyspareunia.
③ On the inner side of the labia minora and the vaginal opening mucosa, white, patchy curd-like membranes may sometimes be visible. The base of these membranes appears reddish, and the white surface is difficult to remove.
