Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. What treatment is good for uterine hypertrophy?

Doctor's answer:

This condition falls under the category of excessive menstrual bleeding, early menstrual periods, and prolonged menstrual cycles in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM believes that the recurrence of this condition is primarily related to qi deficiency or blood heat. Guojing Pills (modified) can be used, with herbs such as:
- 15g of tortoise shell gelatin (dissolved)
- 9g each of roasted Scutellaria baicalensis and roasted Phellodendron amurense
- 15g each of raw Rehmannia glutinosa, root of Psoralea corylifolia, root-bark of Toona sinensis, and carbonized Sanguisorba officinalis
- 20g each of northern sandalwood and roasted Persicae Semen
For excessive bleeding, additional herbs such as:
- 20g of gelatin (dissolved) and carbonized Strobilanthes cusia
- 30g each of calcined oyster shell and calcined pearl
If there is stomach-spleen disharmony with loose stools, remove raw Rehmannia and roasted Phellodendron, and add:
- 10g of roasted Atractylodes macrocephala
- 30g of white bean
- 6g of honeysuckle stem
If bleeding leads to yin depletion and qi consumption, with symptoms such as palpitations and dry mouth, add:
- 15g of Panax japonicus
- 20g of Ophiopogon japonicus
- 9g of Schisandra chinensis
