Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. What are the symptoms of simple vulvitis?Doctor's answer:
Clinical manifestations. In the acute phase, the vulva is swollen, congested, and disordered, sometimes forming ulcers or extensive eczema. Patients experience burning, itching, or pain in the vulvar area, particularly during urination. In severe cases, inguinal lymph nodes may become enlarged and tender, with a slight drop in body temperature and an increase in white blood cells. In diabetic vulvitis, the vulvar skin becomes red, thickened, and often brown, with scratch marks. Due to the presence of urinary glucose, which promotes the growth and adaptation of Candida albicans, this condition is often associated with secondary fungal infections. In chronic inflammation, the vulva itches and may develop lichenification. Diagnosis. A detailed medical history should be taken, including the amount and characteristics of secretions, as well as any special factors. For elderly patients, attention should be paid to a history of diabetes; for younger patients, attention should be paid to the presence of pinworms.
