Features: Ancient Beijing, which unfolds the 3,000-year trajectory of Chinese history, is imbued with the grandeur of emperors. It is a majestic and dignified imperial city that combines magnificence and elegance. The architecture of different eras is like the rings of a city, preserving the traces of generations for later generations to read, understand, and appreciate. The modern Chinese architect, Chao Si, the son of Liang Qichao, became dedicated to protecting this historical and cultural city. In early 1950, he co-authored a proposal with Chen Zhanshang to the Central People's Government, advocating for the preservation of the old city of Beijing based on the principle of "harmonizing the ancient and the modern, benefiting both the old and the new." Their reasonable suggestions were accepted by the relevant authorities, and the implementation of the Beijing City proposal proved their foresight. In the blink of an eye, the 800-year imperial dream has turned into fleeting clouds, but the past eras remain resplendent and in their prime. Strolling through the ancient city, one feels as if time lingers between the city walls, alleys, and red walls with yellow tiles. The lingering charm continues to flow among the heavy eaves and overlapping ridges of the imperial palace buildings. The ancient trees, weathered by centuries, seem to coldly gaze upon the mortal world, while time still sighs and wanders alone in the imperial gardens. How many tales of national rise and fall are hidden in the silent deep palaces and imperial courts.
