Features: Shao Menglong is currently a deputy chief editor and director of the editorial department at Shaanxi People's Fine Arts Publishing House. He also serves as a graduate-level art instructor at Xidian University, president of the Beilin Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, academician of the Shaanxi Qin Feng Fine Arts Institute, researcher at the Northwest Calligraphy and Painting Research Institute, member of the Shaanxi Fine Arts Association, Calligraphy Association, and Watercolor and Gouache Association. He grew up in a family of poetry and calligraphy, learning (calligraphy) and painting under his father's guidance in childhood, reading extensively in classical literature, poetry, and the works of the Hundred Schools of Thought... which endowed him with broad knowledge and profound artistic cultivation. His calligraphic style is solemn, robust, rigorous, and tranquil, though rustic and powerful, it never lacks for delicacy and refinement. His brushwork is deep and solid, rooted in life yet not confined to realism. He thinks independently and explores with dedication, striving tirelessly to innovate while inheriting tradition. What is particularly refreshing is his ability to use ink and color unconventionally, breaking free from established methods in pursuit of change and development. His paintings have reached a remarkable height in techniques that create atmosphere and express emotion. He excels not only in small works, where his effortless brushwork and sparse ink create a sense of being both present and absent, but also in grand compositions. His creations such as "National Soul" and "Urban Impressions" are unique, full of breakthroughs, and leave a lasting impression with their grandeur and magnificence. In addition to editing numerous books, he has illustrated over 20 picture books and published monographs such as "Shao Menglong's Paintings," "Painting Portraits," and "The Art of Hands." Among these, "The Art of Hands" is currently the most comprehensive and complete monograph on hand painting. He has also participated in many national art exhibitions, and many of his works are highly prized by collectors both at home and abroad.
