What causes Candida vulvovaginitis?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Could you please tell me what causes Candida vulvovaginitis?

Doctor's answer:

The treatment for candidal vulvovaginitis includes:
1. Using a 2%–4% baking soda solution to rinse the vagina once or twice daily, with a 2-week course. After rinsing, dry the external genitalia and maintain them dry to inhibit the growth of Candida.
2. After rinsing, insert nystatin tablets deep into the vagina once nightly, with 50,000–100,000 units per dose, for a 7–10-day course. Alternatively, apply miconazole cream to the external genitalia simultaneously.
3. Oral medication: Since fungal infections can be transmitted between partners through sexual contact, oral medication can be administered to both individuals. Oral medication can also inhibit intestinal Candida. Fluconazole oral: 150 mg once daily.
