How to treat trichomoniasis after contraction

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. I suspect I have trichomoniasis. Could you please tell me how my husband should be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Trichomoniasis is caused by certain bacteria that are highly active externally and produce symptoms. However, antibodies in the body can directly or indirectly spread the infection, primarily through indirect transmission via pathways such as public baths, bath utensils, swimming pools, or inadequately sterilized medical devices. Direct transmission can occur through masturbation, and the urinary and fecal systems of male patients may also serve as sources.
The treatment for trichomoniasis includes local and systemic approaches. Currently, systemic treatment is the primary method, involving the oral administration of metronidazole at a dose of 200–250 mg per time, three times daily, with a course of 7–10 days. The treatment is alternated for 2–3 courses.
In addition to standard trichomoniasis treatment, patients should also pay attention to dietary aspects, such as maintaining a light diet and avoiding spicy or irritating foods.
