The original English title is "The Wind of the Willows," and the Chinese translations include "The Wind in the Willows," "The Willows in the Wind," "The Willow Wind," and "The Forest Wind," among others. The novel was published in 1908 and was initially a story told by the author Graham to his young son in the form of letters. It primarily tells the legendary story of the main character, Toad, and his friends. Although the story is intended for children, the author also imbued the entire fairy tale with profound meaning, reflecting his understanding of life and his insights into nature. At the end of the 20th century, the British authoritative academic journal "Logos" selected 105 works that "changed people's thinking and lifestyles in the past century," and "The Wind in the Willows" was included on the list.
