Why does candidiasis occur?

Patient's question:

The doctor said I have a yeast infection, and it is said that this condition is not easy to improve. Why do I get a yeast infection?

Doctor's answer:

Generally, Candida albicans can lurk on the oral cavity, pharynx, intestines, skin, and vaginal mucosa of the human body, coexisting peacefully without causing any disease. However, when the body's immunity increases, or when severe diseases are present, there is a deficiency of cross-linked vitamin B, or long-term use of immunosuppressants, it can take advantage of the weakened state and cause an outbreak. Women with diabetes or those in early pregnancy have continuously increasing glycogen levels in their vaginal epithelial cells, which enhances the acidity of the vagina, facilitating the growth and adaptation of Candida and leading to the onset of the disease. Additionally, the extensive use of antibiotics disrupts the vaginal flora, alters the vaginal environment, and can also lead to candidal vulvovaginitis.
