Patient's question:
After the contrast examination, it was found that both of my fallopian tubes have hydrosalpinx. How should this condition be treated to interfere with conception? What are the hazards of hydrosalpinx?Doctor's answer:
The fallopian tube plays a crucial role in transporting sperm, capturing eggs, and moving the fertilized egg to the uterine cavity. When the fallopian tube is blocked, it obstructs the passage of sperm and the fertilized egg, leading to infertility or ectopic pregnancy. In cases of fallopian tube hydrops, the dilated and undilated parts of the tube remain connected, so patients often experience intermittent vaginal discharge. Infertility is often the only symptom of fallopian tube hydrops. It can be caused by incomplete treatment of acute fallopian tube inflammation, resulting in adhesion of the fallopian tube mucosa, such as due to incomplete miscarriage or retained placenta-induced inflammation. Fallopian tube blockage is a significant cause of female infertility.
