How to treat candidal vulvovaginitis effectively

Patient's question:

Once checked in the hospital, the doctor prescribed medication, which worked after a course of treatment. Now it has recurred. How should candidiasis vaginitis be treated most effectively?

Doctor's answer:

Treatment for Candidal Vulvovaginitis
1. Use alkaline solutions such as 2~4% sodium bicarbonate or soapy water to rinse the external genitalia and vagina. This alters the vaginal pH to favor the growth of fungi. After rinsing, insert nystatin tablets or suppositories into the vagina, with a dose of 100,000~200,000 units each time, once daily. A course of treatment lasts 10~14 days. Additionally, apply 3% miconazole cream to the external genitalia for better results.
2. Daktarin suppositories can be used externally. Men can use Daktarin cream externally.
3. Fluconazole can also be used for treatment.
During treatment, avoid sexual intercourse and change to a new, clean, and sterilized pair of underwear daily. Retest after the menstrual period.
