Patient's question:
I have mild uterine prolapse. Can I get pregnant? What are the treatment options?Doctor's answer:
Hello; Uterine prolapse occurs when the ligaments and muscles of the pelvic floor become loose or atrophied, losing their ability to support the uterus and causing it to drop into the vagina. This is often due to damage to the uterine ligaments and muscles during pregnancy or childbirth. Women who have been pregnant multiple times or experienced difficult deliveries are more prone to uterine prolapse. If the prolapse is mild, the cervix remains inside the vagina. In more severe cases, the cervix may extend to the external genital area, and in the most severe cases, the entire uterus may protrude outside the vagina. Urination and defecation can be extremely painful because when the uterus prolapses, the vaginal walls also bend, with the front wall affecting the bladder and the back wall affecting the rectum.
