Publish Date: 2001-11-01
Features: This book comprehensively introduces WDM all-optical networks, including the evolution from point-to-point WDM systems to all-optical networks, the structure of all-optical networks, optical cross-connect and add/drop multiplexer node structures, management solutions for optical networks, limiting factors affecting the transmission performance of all-optical networks, various IP-over-WDM solutions, and the development trends of next-generation optical networks (intelligent optical networks). WDM all-optical communication networks are one of the main directions for the future development of optical fiber communication. Due to their broadband, high-capacity characteristics, as well as their transparency to transmission signal rates and formats, and their flexible wavelength routing and dynamic network reconfiguration capabilities, they are considered the preferred solution for upgrading communication networks. This book comprehensively introduces WDM all-optical networks, including the evolution from point-to-point WDM systems to all-optical networks, the structure of all-optical networks, optical cross-connect and add/drop multiplexer node structures, management solutions for optical networks, limiting factors affecting the transmission performance of all-optical networks, various IP-over-WDM solutions, and the development trends of next-generation optical networks (intelligent optical networks). This book collects a large amount of research materials on optical networks from around the world and summarizes the research achievements and experience of the author's research group over the years in all-optical networks.
