From the perspective of traditional Chinese moral and ethical values and the current social system, extramarital affairs are indeed a sentiment not recognized by the majority. They destroy families and harm children. The author's "interpretation of extramarital affairs" does not advocate for them but arises from their widespread existence—they have become an inherent part of human marriage. Moreover, the phenomenon of "extramarital affairs" encompasses highly complex social, family, and personal factors. Considering its reality, the author advocates for approaching it with a correct attitude rather than escalating conflicts. There are many reasons for the formation of extramarital affairs, which can primarily be divided into two categories: First, the ancient Chinese social system that favored men over women led to a higher proportion of male extramarital affairs. Second, dissatisfaction in marriage drives individuals to seek extramarital relationships. Here, the term "desires" refers not only to emotional or sexual needs but also includes the need for security, trust, and more. When extramarital affairs occur within a marriage, they inflict immense damage on the family and extend harm to the next generation. No relationship is more intimate than marriage, and the greatest force sustaining intimacy is trust. If trust vanishes from a marital relationship, it signifies that the marriage is on the brink of disintegration. Therefore, victims of extramarital affairs should not view the issue solely from a personal perspective but should understand it in the context of social culture, family history, and the process of its occurrence. This approach can minimize personal harm and allow for a calm examination of one's marriage.
