On this occasion of the re-publication, we sincerely thank millions of readers across the country.
Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (abbreviated as "Subject Olympiads") are one of China's most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extend the concept of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are precisely at the core of quality education. This is also the need for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our subject Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The compilation principles and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
High: Derived from textbooks but also surpassing them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; surpassing textbooks means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
Accurate: Scientifically precise, with a well-structured design. Each book is designed hierarchically based on subject characteristics, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as the latest ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from one example to many, promoting cross-application of knowledge; emphasizing multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to a single problem; and prioritizing the training of thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: A gathering of distinguished teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to co-author these books.
