This book introduces the history of Asia, centered around the rise of the Mongol nation. After the collapse of the Tang Dynasty, the chaotic period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms eventually gave way to the establishment of the Song Dynasty. During this time, nomadic states such as the Liao and Jin emerged in northern China. Among them, the Mongols, under the leadership of Genghis Khan, conquered vast territories in Europe. Later, the fifth generation of Khublai Khan moved the capital to Dadu and established the Yuan Dynasty, a non-Han ruling regime. After the fragmentation and decline of the Mongol Empire, the Timurid Empire and the Mughal Empire, both of Mongol descent, rose to prominence. Simultaneously, the Ottoman Empire was established in the Balkans as a major power. Through the rise and fall of these nations, one can understand the dynamics and history of Asia around the 10th to 16th centuries.
