How to handle the situation when ovulation occurs?

Patient's question:

I've been married for several years, and so far, we haven't had any children. I'm very anxious about it and don't know if it's my problem. I've asked my husband to get checked, but he refuses. I'm afraid my condition might worsen. Please advise on how to handle the situation if I'm not ovulating.

Doctor's answer:

Ovulation failure can occur in up to 25%–30% of infertility cases and is a common endocrine disorder. In addition to infertility, patients often exhibit menstrual irregularities such as hypomenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, or amenorrhea, as well as symptoms like hirsutism and obesity. Due to prolonged anovulation, the endometrium becomes excessively fibrotic, and the lack of cyclic progesterone counteraction increases the relative risk of developing endometrial cancer or breast cancer. Factors that can trigger ovulatory dysfunction include: central nervous system-related amenorrhea; hypothalamic amenorrhea; pituitary amenorrhea; and ovarian amenorrhea. Patients with ovulation failure must always maintain a positive mood and a balanced diet to avoid unnecessary impacts on the complete recovery of anovulation.
