Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Could you please tell me what could cause vulvar itching?Doctor's answer:
Vaginal itching is often caused by abnormal vaginal discharge resulting from trichomoniasis or fungal infections, which irritates the external genital area, leading to pain. If antiseptic solutions are used to wash the external genital area, vagina, or if certain medications (such as sulfonamides, furacilin, highly alkaline soaps, or potassium permanganate solutions) are inserted into the vagina, it may cause allergic reactions or recurrent dermatitis in the external genital area, resulting in itching. During menstruation, if hygiene is not maintained or rubber or plastic menstrual pads are used without frequent cleaning of the external genital area, allowing menstrual blood or vaginal secretions to accumulate for extended periods. Alternatively, wearing synthetic underwear that keeps the external genital area in a consistently moist and warm environment can also frequently lead to vaginal itching.
