Can vulvar leukoplakia be cured?

Patient's question:

I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Can leukoplakia of the external genitalia be cured?

Doctor's answer:

Vaginal leukoplakia is primarily caused by infections and inflammation in the vulvar area, as well as vulvar dystrophy. Conditions such as vulvar eczema and vulvar itching can also lead to vaginal leukoplakia. Treatments include applying 0.5-1% testosterone propionate cream, taking oral vitamins A, B, and E, and using traditional Chinese medicine herbs like honeysuckle, cinnabar fruit, Sophora flavescens, Epimedium, Dendrobium candidum, and Tribulus terrestris. These herbs can be decocted for internal consumption and external washing, as well as applied through acupoint laser irradiation. Cryotherapy can be used to treat moderate to severe atypical fibrosis, or in cases where older patients do not respond to the aforementioned treatments, surgical excision of the vulva may be considered.
