How is hydrosalpinx caused?

Patient's question:

Color Doppler ultrasound carefully checked that there is fluid accumulation in the fallopian tubes, and surgical treatment needs to be performed. I would like to consult how does fallopian tube hydrops lead to this condition?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, hydrosalpinx in female fallopian tubes is a relatively common disease among chronic salpingitis. The causes of hydrosalpinx may be twofold: (1) When chronic salpingitis recurs, the fimbriae of the fallopian tubes can become due to inflammation, and the exudate and transudate in the lumen of the fallopian tubes gradually accumulate. (2) Some hydrosalpinx may evolve from tubal abscess. The original pus cells and purulent tissues in the lumen are compressed and cleared by phagocytes, gradually transforming the pus into clear, watery fluid. In some cases of hydrosalpinx, it is caused by gynecological inflammation, such as infections in the pelvic cavity or adnexa. The pelvic cavity is the container for the fallopian tubes, uterus, and ovaries, while adnexitis involves the fallopian tubes and ovaries, so these infections are prone to cause hydrosalpinx. It is recommended to seek treatment early.
