Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting fertility, and I also feel extremely cold and afraid of coldness. How should uterine enlargement be treated and improved?Doctor's answer:
Hypertrophy of uterus, also known as uterine hypertrophy, refers to a condition where the uterus is uniformly reduced in size with a muscle layer thickness exceeding 2.5 cm, accompanied by varying degrees of uterine bleeding. Diagnosis is often made in postpartum women, characterized by excessive menstrual flow and consistent uterine reduction. The endometrium is usually normal or thickened, occasionally presenting as polypoid, but most pathological examinations reveal normal findings, with only a few cases showing fibrosis, confirming the diagnosis of uterine hypertrophy. It is important to differentiate it from uterine fibroids, especially when the fibroids are solitary intramural or submucosal. When the uterine body is uniformly reduced in size, it can be difficult to distinguish from uterine hypertrophy. Dilation and curettage (D&C) and ultrasound examinations can help with diagnosis. However, in very rare cases, diagnosis may only be possible during laparotomy. Additionally, it is important to differentiate it from conditions such as adenomyosis and endometrial cancer.
