Features: Spiders are a commonly seen animal in our daily lives, but people often overlook the need to understand and recognize them, let alone their uses. In the history of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in China, the medicinal use of spiders has long been recorded. With the application of modern TCM theory, the medicinal value of the tarantula (Haploclastus hirtus) is increasingly gaining societal attention. These developments have laid a foundation for artificial spider farming, giving it genuine economic and social significance. Due to the limited available information on spider farming, the author compiled this book based on years of experience in spider farming, combining teaching, research, and development efforts. The aim is to present the book in a theory-to-practice approach, making it both accessible and practical. The book systematically introduces the significance and development prospects of spider farming; the classification and distribution of spiders; the biological characteristics of spiders; the construction of spider farming facilities; the growth, development, and reproduction of spiders; spider feed and feed insect farming; artificial feeding and management techniques for spiders; pest and disease control in spider farming; spider harvesting and transportation; spider processing and utilization; spider venom and extraction techniques. This book serves as a reference for spider farming professionals, as well as researchers and developers in the fields of food, feed, livestock, and pharmaceuticals. Since artificial spider farming is relatively new, in-depth research has not yet been extensively conducted, and given the author's limited expertise, there may be certain shortcomings and errors. We sincerely welcome readers' criticisms and corrections.
