What are the common treatments for discovering uterine polyps?

Patient's question:

2 years ago, I had a uterine polypectomy. During this health check-up, it was said that the endometrium is thick, and there is suspicion of uterine polyps, but I don't have any symptoms. Could you please tell me what are the common treatments for uterine polyps?

Doctor's answer:

Cervical polyps are a common gynecological disease and a fundamental clinical feature of chronic cervical inflammation. They occur due to local fibrosis of the cervical canal mucosa caused by chronic inflammation. As the uterus has an inherent immune response, the fibrotic mucosa gradually undergoes polypoid changes from the base toward the weaker areas of the cervix, hence they are also referred to as endocervical polyps. Cervical polyps are often overlooked because more than one-third of patients lack obvious symptoms and are only discovered during a thorough medical examination. Even when symptoms are present, they are usually mild, primarily characterized by minimal spotting with bright red bleeding or slight bleeding after sexual intercourse, which may sometimes be mistaken for "menstruation." In a few cases, the bleeding volume can resemble a menstrual period.
