Features: Currently, many parenting books tend to be encyclopedic, large, comprehensive, and thick, with high prices but low utilization. They mostly advocate Western parenting philosophies, which may not be entirely suitable for China's practical realities. This book introduces the parenting experience accumulated in China over thousands of years, combined with modern scientific parenting practices, making it highly suitable for Chinese children. The book includes: the three key focuses of child care, the key points of child care at different stages, general care for children's common illnesses, care for infectious diseases in children, and parent-child massage and health care. The features of this book:
1. It introduces how to care for children from a humanistic perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Following nature and providing meticulous care is the essence of TCM parenting, and also the core of this book.
2. In terms of daily child care, the book does not cover everything comprehensively but selects the most important and parents' most concerned topics, such as diet and clothing, achieving an effect of highlighting key aspects.
3. Regarding diseases, the book provides detailed descriptions of common childhood illnesses, including symptoms, general causes, medication, and care. It emphasizes that recovery from illness hinges on care, and introduces many effective, side-effect-free dietary therapies.
4. The massage and health care in this book are very distinctive. They not only enhance emotional communication between parents and children and help children move more, but also effectively alleviate children's discomfort when they are sick, reduce symptoms, and achieve the goal of treating illnesses without or with minimal medication.
5. It is essential to prepare a basic home medicine kit. Based on decades of experience as a pediatrician, the author lists a home medicine kit for parents, providing detailed descriptions of the efficacy and usage of various medications for reference.
I often encounter situations where parents rush to bring their children to see a doctor, but the children are actually not sick—they are simply experiencing some seemingly "abnormal" but normal phenomena during growth and development. When children do get sick, some parents don't know how to care for them properly, leading to inappropriate medication and dietary habits, which can worsen their condition. These situations arise from parents' lack of knowledge about children's growth and development and pathological conditions. Currently, China's medical conditions are still not very developed, and it is often crowded to see a doctor, making it impossible for doctors to address every question from anxious parents. Additionally, some doctors are not diligent in their work, treating seemingly "abnormal" phenomena, which only adds unnecessary suffering to children.
As a doctor with over 40 years of experience in TCM pediatric care, I hope to provide valuable references for young parents in caring for their children. Wang Yinglin
