Do smaller cervical cysts still need treatment?

Patient's question:

MRI findings of cervical cyst: Uterus: Anterior position, normal shape, uterus size approximately 52mm x 53mm x 46mm, homogeneous muscle layer echo, endometrial thickness about 9mm, homogeneous echo, cervical anteroposterior diameter 30mm, with no echo inside, the largest about 10 x 10mm. Adnexal area: Left ovary size 32mm x 26mm, right ovary size 26mm x 25mm. Pelvic cavity shows irregular liquid dark areas, size 15mm x 5mm. Diagnosis: Multiple cervical nabothian cysts, pelvic effusion

Doctor's answer:

For scattered and relatively small cervical glandular cysts, treatment is generally not required, and annual careful examinations are sufficient. For dense, smaller Nabothian cysts or larger cysts, treatments such as phototherapy, laser, microwave, or cryosurgery may be considered. For larger cysts that are weakly attached to the surface of the cervix, electrocautery removal can be an option. All of these treatment methods cause minimal pain and will not significantly interfere with daily training and living. Under long-term inflammation, a very small number of chronic cervical inflammation patients may develop a tendency toward malignant transformation, so close monitoring is still necessary. Therefore, cervical cyst patients should undergo an annual Pap smear examination to rule out cervical cancer and precancerous conditions.
