Features: This book takes the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as its main thread to introduce the career requirements and basic knowledge and skills for system analysts. The book is divided into 8 chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the career preparation for information workers and system analysts starting from basic concepts such as data, information, and information systems. Chapter 2 introduces the various information systems and their architectural frameworks in current organizational structures. Chapter 3 discusses the methodological issues of information system development from a theoretical perspective. Chapter 4 introduces the basic knowledge of UML. Chapter 5 discusses system analysis methods in general using the various diagrams of UML. Chapters 6 and 7 discuss data modeling and process modeling of information systems, respectively, using UML static views and dynamic views. Chapter 8 introduces the steps and content of system design. After completing this course, students will be able to communicate more proficiently with users and programmers using object-oriented thinking and tools, and will also have a solid foundation for further in-depth research on UML concepts and methods, thereby acquiring the knowledge and skills required for working as a system analyst. They can also further develop into information system project managers and project management candidates. The appendix at the end of the book compares the requirements for information-related knowledge in the system analyst exam syllabus with the content of this book. This book uses the important idea of object-oriented thinking—key to system analysis—to provide a comprehensive overview while avoiding the excessive emphasis on technical details often found in other textbooks introducing UML. As a result, it is particularly suitable for the cultivation of talent in management disciplines. In addition to the Information Management and Information Systems major, it is also very suitable for teaching and reference in other fields such as E-commerce, Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, and Project Management.
