Features: There are too many cartoonists in the world, too many to count, but those who can be called world masters of humor are scarce. Argentine cartoonist Joao is undeniably one of the few world masters of humor. Joao's real name is Hoking Salavado Lavado, born in Mendoza, Argentina in 1932, and later settled in Buenos Aires. In his early years, Joao studied at the Buenos Aires School of Fine Arts and, after graduation, made painting his profession. In the mid-1960s, he gained fame by creating the comic strip "Mafalda" in the famous weekly "Pais" in Buenos Aires and the newspaper "La Prensa." Besides "Mafalda," over the decades, Joao also created a large number of single-panel comics and non-serial comic strips, which were compiled into several comic books such as "Men and Women," "Joao's Therapy," "The Birth of Man," and "Don't Shout at Me," influencing the world. Joao is skilled at using a sharp, observer's perspective to critically and incisively criticize human nature, dissecting the myriad lifestyles of the common people. His works are sharp and biting, pointing straight to the heart, with storytelling and artistic techniques reaching the pinnacle of perfection. In the early 1990s, our company was among the first to introduce Joao's comic works to China, publishing two selected versions of "Mafalda" and "Joao Comics," which had a certain impact in China. However, due to the limitations of the time, the works in these two versions were very limited. Currently, through our continuous efforts, we have obtained the copyright to publish Joao's comics and can now fully introduce his masterpieces. We have completely rearranged all of Joao's works, dividing them into five volumes: "The Wide World," "Adam and Eve," "Between the Sexes," "Men and Women," and "Mafalda." This volume, "Adam and Eve," is one of them.
