Since 1913, he published his writings in newspapers and magazines, and even in his advanced years, he continued to write, creating a remarkable legacy in the literary world. His works primarily focus on anecdotes from the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, drawing from a vast array of sources to create a comprehensive and valuable record of modern Chinese literary history. In his early works, he often used classical Chinese, which was concise, subtle, and elegant. In his later years, his masterpieces combined vernacular Chinese with classical elements, blending knowledge and entertainment seamlessly. These works, written in a unique style of short essays, were praised by readers across all walks of life for their distinctive charm and accessibility. Before his passing, Zheng Yimei had compiled over forty books. After his death, his family published additional works from his manuscripts. However, many of these individual publications were published years ago and are now difficult to find. Now, with the approval of Zheng Yimei's family, Zhonghua Book Company has selected his representative works and compiled them into the Zheng Yimei Collection, which will be published in a series of individual volumes to delight readers. Anecdotes of the Literary World in the Late Qing and Early Republic, first published by Shanghai Xuelin Publishing House in 1987; in 1991, Heilongjiang People's Publishing House included this book in the Selected Works of Zheng Yimei (Volume 2).
