Patient's question:
I am very scared when this happens. I often experience lower abdominal pain and don't know how to solve it, so I came here to consult. Could you please tell me how to treat an ovarian cyst?Doctor's answer:
Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle and can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for definitive diagnosis and additional treatment. For women of childbearing age who discover an ovarian cyst, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it may be advisable to wait and see for 3 months. After 3 months, a repeat MRI should be performed. If the cyst still exists, surgery should be considered for resolution. In addition, most other cysts are pathological and should be surgically diagnosed.
