Features: A self-important and sincere little cat, a clumsy and kind-hearted little dog, a real yet absurd world. Dingding Cat lives on the fringes of human society, a small figure. Don't let him hear this! He's somewhat proud, believing he was born to do great things, as if the heavens and earth were meant for him alone? He shows some disdain for humans. He admires idealists like Van Gogh, but don't think he can tolerate hardship. He prefers a comfortable life. Sometimes I wonder if his love for food surpasses his admiration for Van Gogh. Hearing this, he might stretch lazily, yawn, and say, "That's the gift of a cat!" But Dingding Cat is still Dingding Cat. He has endless dreams, even if they break again and again. Dingding Cat and Buding Dog have their own weaknesses, but they are both kind-hearted, eager to understand the truth of life, and pursue ideals, happiness, and joy, though they often end up with disappointment, pain, and awkwardness. In this complex and dangerous world, they struggle to survive. They laugh, but they also worry. Seeing the sunset at the horizon, they may feel inexplicably melancholic; gazing at a tiny star in the night sky, their thoughts may wander. But even an ice cream cone is enough to make them forget all their troubles. Since July 2003, I have been sketching their daily trivialities on blank paper with drawings. This book is a record of their lives over the past year and a half. I'm happy to have done this for them. They are sensitive animals. Besides me, they don't let anyone else interfere in this matter. If I skip a day or two and don't draw, they'll become strangers to me; if I don't truly immerse myself in their world, they'll close that door and won't let me in.
