Tang and Song Ci Appreciation

Author: Xia Chengtao
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2002-01-01
Features: This collection contains thirty-nine short essays, all related to the appreciation of Tang and Song Ci poetry. Most of these essays were recorded and compiled by Comrade Huai Shuang years ago. This book, "Appreciation of Tang and Song Ci," was written over forty years ago by the author to explain the appreciation of Tang and Song Ci to a broad readership. It was mostly recorded and compiled by the author's assistant, Huai Shuang, revised by the author, and published in newspapers and magazines in Hangzhou, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Compared to unstructured discussions, these recorded explanations of Ci poetry may lack some liveliness; due to the limitations of the time, some points could not be expressed fully, and it was inevitable to include some clichés. However, the sharp insights and vivid characteristics of the author's explanations remain. Although it differs from the author's specialized works on Ci poetry, it serves as an accessible and engaging introduction for the general audience, making Tang and Song Ci more accessible to a wider readership. This is also one of the great merits of the author.
