How to Prevent Ovarian Cysts

Patient's question:

Right ovarian cyst. How can cysts be prevented? I got married last year, and recently I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried about it affecting my fertility, and I'm also extremely afraid of cold and coldness.

Doctor's answer:

Ovarian cysts can be physiological (meaning they are normal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle that can naturally disappear) or pathological (formed due to disease). Physiological cysts do not require surgery, while pathological cysts often need surgery for definitive diagnosis and additional treatment. For women of childbearing age, after discovering an ovarian cyst, the next course of action depends on the nature of the cyst. Ultrasound results are very helpful for diagnosis. If MRI indicates that the cyst is anechoic (without echoes) and non-segmented, it is advisable to wait and see for 3 months. After 3 months, a repeat MRI should be performed. If the cyst still exists, surgery should be considered for resolution. For other types of cysts, in most cases, they are pathological and surgery is necessary for definitive diagnosis.
