How to treat bacterial vaginosis

Patient's question:

Recently, I've been experiencing abnormal leukorrhea and vaginal itching. After a careful examination, it was determined that I have vaginitis. Could you please tell me what methods can be used to treat bacterial vaginosis?

Doctor's answer:

Bacterial vaginosis is primarily spread through sexual intercourse, hence it is characterized by a relief of odor during or after intercourse. During the menstrual period, the vaginal pH value decreases, so the odor can also be relieved during or after menstruation. Patients may experience discomfort in the external genitalia, including varying degrees of vulvar itching, which generally has no specific time pattern but becomes more pronounced during rest and when the patient is under stress. Some patients may also experience varying degrees of vulvar burning sensation, and some may experience pain during intercourse again. A very small number of patients may experience lower abdominal pain, difficulty during intercourse, and abnormal urinary sensations. During the onset of the disease, the vaginal mucosal epithelium does not show obvious congestion.
