What are uterine polyps?

Patient's question:

A while ago, the area of the vagina was very painful. Last week, there was also blood in the urine, and there was a lot of leukorrhea. After examination, it was found to be uterine polyps. Please ask what careful examinations are needed for uterine polyps.

Doctor's answer:

1. Gynecological examination: Acute inflammation is characterized by cervical congestion and edema, or erosion, with purulent secretions discharged from the cervical canal. Pain may be felt when the cervix is manipulated. Chronic cervical inflammation is characterized by varying degrees of erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, or everted cervix, or purulent secretions observed at the cervical os. The cervix feels harder upon palpation. If the condition is cervical erosion or polyps, contact bleeding may occur (Figure 1 Endometrial polyp).
2. Microscopic examination: Endometrial polyps are composed of endometrial tissue, with a surface covered by a layer of cuboidal or low-columnar epithelium. The central part of the polyp forms a fibrous longitudinal axis, containing blood vessels within it.
