Patient's question:
A while ago, the area of the vagina was very painful, and last week there was also blood in the urine. There was also a lot of leukorrhea. After examination, it was found to be uterine polyps. Please ask what are the hazards of uterine polyps?Doctor's answer:
Cervical polyps are a manifestation of chronic cervical inflammation and are more common in unmarried women. Originating from cervical mucosa, these polyps are covered by a layer of columnar epithelium, which contains rich microvessels, making them bright red, soft, and fragile. They can easily break when gently pulled, often leading to recurrent infections and the formation of ulcers. Another type of polyp originates from the vaginal part of the cervix, covered by stratified squamous epithelium. Due to the predominance of fibrous connective tissue in the stroma, these polyps are light red in color, relatively tough, with a wider base and superficial localization. If cervical polyps are detected, they should be promptly removed through polypectomy, ideally within one month before delivery.
