Features: The Dreamers is a "bold and fascinating story about human relationships." What attracts readers is the inner world of the characters, their innocence, mystery, and arrogance. In the author's view, every young person is a "dreamer," seeking the innocence and beauty of dreams of 1968 students. Amid the unprecedented political radicalism and sexual openness of the time, their inner selves underwent a profound transformation. In the Paris depicted by Bertolucci's The Last Tango in Paris, bathed in its aesthetic lens, surges the romantic passion unique to that era. Readers can also experience the erotic charm in the film The Last Tango in Paris, where love scenes are as artistic as oil paintings and as captivating as sculptures. It was an age filled with dreams and passion, an era of cinema and sexuality. Just before the May 1968 Paris events, American teenager Matthew meets the bohemian twin siblings Theo and Isabelle at the French Film Archive, and they bond over their shared love of cinema. Matthew harbors secret homosexual desires but suppresses them deeply; Theo and Isabelle have grown up since childhood as if they were both male and female, being both siblings and lovers. Matthew's desires thus turn toward both Theo and Isabelle. The three flower-like young men lose themselves in the world of cinema, indulging in lust, taboos, and incestuous desires, unable to extricate themselves—until the revolutionary violence of the May events forcibly intrudes, forcing their sweet and bewildered youthful desires to give way to idealistic revolutionary fervor. The novel has now been adapted into a film by renowned director Bertolucci, marking his second challenge to taboos and a work thats the world in its pursuit of dreams.
