Patient's question:
Recently, I suddenly felt my abdomen getting bigger, and it was accompanied by abdominal pain. My menstrual cycle is also irregular. What tests are best for ovarian cysts?Doctor's answer:
1. Laparoscopic examination: After inflating the abdomen, the intestinal loops descend, and pelvic organs can be clearly exposed. If a cyst in the broad ligament is found along with the ovary and fallopian tube, the diagnosis can be confirmed.2. B-mode MRI examination: In MRI imaging, if images of the uterus and ovary are observed, the adjacent mass-like structures are most likely ovarian cysts. This method relies on indirect inference.
3. Pneumoperitoneal contrast: After inflating the abdomen, an X-ray is taken. If the X-ray shows normal shadows of the uterus and ovaries, the remaining mass shadows may be ovarian cysts. This method has the same limitations as B-mode MRI examination—it cannot directly determine the nature of the mass and cannot rule out cysts originating from the fallopian tubes.
