Patient's question:
I recently felt unwell and after a check-up, I found out I have an ectopic pregnancy. Could you please ask the doctor what are the common causes of ectopic pregnancy?Doctor's answer:
Common reasons include:1. Chronic tubal inflammation, chronic tubal inflammation can cause adhesions of the tubal mucosal folds, leading to narrowed lumen, mucosal destruction, ciliary defects in the epithelium, adhesions around the fallopian tubes, and complete distortion of the tubal shape. These conditions interfere with the normal movement and passage of the fertilized egg in the fallopian tubes, making them the main cause of ectopic pregnancy.
2. Abnormal development or function of the fallopian tubes, abnormalities in fallopian tube development, such as excessively long fallopian tubes, poor muscle layer development, absence of mucosal cilia, double fallopian tubes, or additional fimbriae, can all be causes of ectopic pregnancy.
