Features: This book systematically introduces EDA technology and the hardware description language VHDL for FPGA/CPLD application development. It effectively combines the fundamental knowledge, programming techniques, and practical methods of VHDL with advanced EDA design platform technology on Quartus II, enabling readers to quickly understand and master the basic theories and practical engineering development techniques of EDA technology through studying this book, and laying a solid foundation for further in-depth learning and development.
Based on the patterns and requirements of college classroom teaching and experimental operations, with the aim of improving students' practical engineering design capabilities, the main content of the book is organized as follows: basic knowledge of EDA technology and VHDL, the structural principles of FPGA/CPLD target devices, practical methods of VHDL and design in-depth, schematic input methods, state machine design, LPM macro module usage methods, and EDA design optimization. Among these, the comprehensive design and typical applications of EDA technology introduce the use of IP cores, the development of electronic design competition projects, motor control, VGA display control, high-speed sampling, etc. Except for a few chapters, each chapter includes corresponding exercises, targeted experiments, and design examples. The VHDL examples provided in the book have all been compiled or tested on hardware.
This book is primarily aimed at undergraduate and college-level courses on EDA technology and VHDL language fundamentals. It can serve as a primary reference book for classroom teaching or experimental guidance courses in disciplines such as electronic engineering, communication, automation, computer science, information engineering, and instrumentation. Additionally, it can also be used as a self-study reference book for electronic design competitions and FPGA development applications. For instructors, complementary CAI teaching materials and experimental guidance materials (including experimental example source programs) are provided.
