Features: Human society has moved towards civilization through trials of blood and fire. Since the dawn of humanity, war has never ceased; since war existed, war literature has been inevitable. War, like life and love, is a timeless theme in literary creation. In ancient Chinese poetry, military poems have always held an important place in poetic history due to their rich ideological content and unique artistic charm. Military poems established a patriotic tone from their inception. From the Qin and Han dynasties onwards, the development of military poems has never strayed from this main theme. Strong contemporaneity is another characteristic of military poems. The themes expressed in military poems cover a wide range, including the urgent desire of poets to pick up their pens and join the army to achieve glory; songs of praise for frontline soldiers who endure hardship and sacrifice their lives for their country; descriptions of the intense and fierce life of soldiers during marches and battles; portrayals of the frontier landscape; statements of the longing of soldiers stationed at the borders for their hometowns and families; reflections on the luxurious lives of high-ranking commanders. These rich ideological contents are also expressed through diverse artistic styles. In summary, the organic unity of content and form constitutes the beautiful gallery of military poems, providing us with a wealth of artistic treasures. This anthology is offered to literary enthusiasts, with a broad selection criterion. It strives to include famous works while also considering different styles and genres from various eras, with a particular emphasis on selecting concise, refined works that are easy to appreciate and memorize.
