Patient's question:
Recently, mild itching has frequently occurred, accompanied by dryness of the external genitalia and discomfort during sexual activity. After examination, it was found to be vulvar atrophy. What are the initial symptoms of vulvar atrophy? What medication is used to treat it? Can it be cured?Doctor's answer:
Phase I Ectopic: Main symptoms are not obvious, some patients have mild itching, no recurrence of white inflammation, and the vulva has expansion that is not easily noticeable to the naked eye.Phase II Ectopic: The typical symptom is mild visible vulvar expansion, usually starting from the labia majora, labia minora, and clitoris. The elasticity of the labia majora and minora decreases, and the surface may have increased folds or be smooth. Vulvar itching is relatively mild. Due to the expansion, there may be feelings of vulvar dryness or discomfort during intercourse. Local recurrence of hypopigmentation in the vulvar skin appears in spots or patches.
