Features: As a great poet in the New Poetry Movement of China, Chang Yao is not only renowned for his "greatness" but also for his "uniqueness," an artistic creation that sets him apart in the history of Chinese new poetry. "Chang Yao built a western plateau with his poetry," thus making himself the "only first-generation poet who grew up alongside the New China, standing alongside the second and third generations," and "engaging in a struggle and sprint with contemporary young avant-garde poets" in the "same process." This struggle and sprint "is not a simple identification or transcendence of avant-garde poetry; hes with his own artistic experience and spiritual orientation on the path where he converges with the artistic avant-garde of his time."
