This book is a review guide for the probability theory and mathematical statistics section of the postgraduate entrance examination for engineering, economics, and management disciplines. The book is divided into eight chapters: Random Events and Probability, Random Variables and Their Distributions, Bivariate Random Variables and Their Distributions, Numerical Characteristics of Random Variables, Law of Large Numbers and Central Limit Theorem, Basic Concepts of Mathematical Statistics, Parameter Estimation, and Hypothesis Testing.
According to the requirements of the 2005 National Postgraduate Entrance Unified Examination Mathematics Syllabus, Mathematical Exam 4 does not cover the mathematical statistics section, i.e., the three chapters on basic concepts of mathematical statistics, parameter estimation, and hypothesis testing. There are only minor differences in the mastery level requirements for the other chapters among Mathematical Exams 1, 3, and 4.
At the end of each chapter, the book includes the most comprehensive new past exam questions for practice.
This book can not only serve as a supplementary guide for the postgraduate entrance examination but is also an invaluable reference for university students, junior college students, and self-study candidates.
