Features: This book briefly introduces the friction characteristics of metal plastic forming processes and primarily focuses on the physical-chemical properties and testing methods of lubricants used in metal plastic forming processes, the main types of lubricants, the testing methods and devices for lubricant performance, and the main components (lubricating materials) of common lubricant formulations and their physical-chemical properties. This book is intended for technical personnel and workers engaged in research, production, and use of lubricants, as well as for reference by faculty and students of metal plastic forming programs in colleges and universities. [Preface] Following the publication of Friction and Lubrication in Metal Plastic Forming, this book, Lubricating Materials in Metal Plastic Forming, has been completed as a supplement. It primarily introduces the types of lubricants commonly used in the plastic forming processes of metal materials, the physical-chemical property indicators of lubricants and their testing methods, the testing devices for lubricant performance under various operating conditions, and the main components of common lubricant formulations and their physical-chemical properties, for reference by enterprises and institutions engaged in metal plastic forming processes and by units and experts researching lubricants. There are many physical-chemical properties of lubricants, and there are also many methods for testing them. This book lists most of the physical-chemical property indicators of lubricants and their testing methods. However, for specific lubricants used, it is not necessary to test all their physical-chemical properties. Typically, only a portion of the properties are tested based on the requirements. The performance of lubricants is a key indicator, and the testing of lubricant performance is closely related to the specific process conditions of lubricant use. This book lists the testing methods and devices for the performance of lubricants used in the surface forming and volume forming processes of most metal materials for reference. Currently, in many lubricant formulations described in various materials, the specific lubricating components are not clearly introduced, such as which active agent is used in water-based lubricants, which mineral or vegetable oil is used as the base oil, and which extreme pressure agent is added. Additionally, research data on lubricating materials that have already been clearly used is also lacking. In contrast, there is more comprehensive and detailed information available on lubricating materials used in general mechanical transmissions. Therefore, this book references the use of lubricants in mechanical transmissions and provides a more comprehensive introduction to various lubricating materials and their properties for research and use. It should also be emphasized that most lubricating materials either have certain toxicity or corrosiveness. When researching and using various lubricating materials, strict adherence to relevant operating procedures should be followed to avoid unnecessary complications. Chapters 1 and 2 were written by Professor Zhao Zhenduo of Shandong University, Chapter 3 was written by Shao Mingzhi of Jinan Iron and Steel Group and Ma Feng of Jinan Urban Construction Engineering Company, Chapters 4, 5, 9, and 11 were written by Wang Jia'an of Shandong University, and Chapters 6, 7, 8, and 10 were written by Zhang Zhaoduo of Shandong University. The entire book was compiled by Professor Zhao Zhenduo and Senior Engineer Li Yunhui. Gao Jun, Song Libin, Xu Hongmin, Liu Qingjin, Wang Lijun, Zhao Bo, Yang Xianchun, Yu Yanqiu, Zhang Zhirong, Han Qiang, and Wang Ying also contributed materials and participated in writing parts of this book. Due to the broad scope of knowledge covered in this book and the extensive collection of materials, along with the limitations of the authors, there may be inaccuracies and errors in the book. The readers are kindly requested to point them out.
