Features: Coal resources are depleting, and coal mining enterprises can be closed, but coal mining cities have already formed. For cities to survive and achieve sustainable development, they must restore the ecological environment to make it suitable for human habitation and cultivate and develop follow-up industries to accommodate labor employment. Otherwise, the decline of cities due to exhausted mines ("mined-out city decline") will inevitably lead to a series of economic and social problems. The uniqueness of coal mining cities makes their economic transformation more difficult and more important compared to other resource-based cities. Based on the of coal production, this book separates coal mining cities from resource-based cities and conducts a systematic study of their economic transformation issues, rather than focusing on individual case studies of coal mining cities. Through extensive research, reviewing a large amount of materials, summarizing and analyzing them, and abstracting a series of commonalities, this book uses empirical methods and simple language to explore various theoretical and practical issues involved in the economic transformation of coal mining cities in a general sense, proposing a series of suggestions with scientific value and operational feasibility.
